He might have dozed off in excess as he only mounted late in the morning. Trying to regain consciousness, he slid his window to welcome the fresh air ambience. That was when he spotted Ramatulai at the next-door neighbor’s. “She was the most beautiful woman I have seen”, the groom admitted. n
Ever since that day, Sulaiman could feel his pulse racing and his heart pounding at the simple thought of Ramatulai. He was restless. He made further inquiries about the woman who stole his heart. Luck came after he was able to reach her after many efforts. They quickly entered the talking stage and that was when they realized they shared a lot of things in common. Ramatulai and Sulaiman cohabited perfectly and grew comfortable with each other. It appeared as if they were betrothed since childhood. Their frequent conversation spun till it reached the topic of wanting to be wedded in holy matrimony. All of these happened in two months.
Months passed and after Sulaiman had popped the “big question”, he journeyed to his chosen wife’s family home to make his intentions available. The soon-to-be groom was greeted with a very good reception and openhandedness. However, it seemed like the love affair was about to go south after Ramatulai’s family drew attention to the variation of tribes and the proposals of other suitors, which were on the table. Skepticism grew from her family’s side. Regardless, the lovebirds stood firm by each other to relay their profound interest to the family in tying the knot irrespective of basic societal standards.

Mr and Mrs Mansaray married according to the cultures and traditions of the Fullah tribe. Their wedding event was a whole day period of festivity and merriness. Both the engagement and nuptial happened in a single day.

My only advice to those getting married or intending to is that a relationship should be built based on the foundation of truth, honesty and love. It doesn’t matter how long you have known each other for when the right person steps in the room, your guts will tell you what next to do.
